Whiten Your Teeth on Your Next Appointment
Restore your smile with brilliant white teeth.
New You Dental Center offers procedures that effectively remove stains and restore smiles that toothpaste and over the counter whiteners can’t.
How teeth become stained:
There are two types of stains. One is caused by traumatic injury, medication, and fluorosis. This stain actually begins inside the tooth, so brushing and flossing won’t help. The other type of stain is caused by external factors like food and tobacco. External stains can be treated more easily with proper dental care like brushing, flossing, and rinsing.
Food particles are naturally attracted to a tooth’s enamel by a certain protein. Coffee, tea, wine, berries, and soy sauce are known for their staining properties. Over time, your teeth become more absorbent and more vulnerable to staining from food and other substances.
Types of whitening treatments:
Commercial “whitening” toothpastes can be somewhat effective at removing and making teeth a few shades brighter. However, many of these products have abrasive substances that can actually wear away your tooth’s enamel.
Commercial “whitening” agents actually change the color of your teeth, but only effective on certain types of stains. For example, bleaching agents aren’t very effective on brownish or grayish stains. They also have limited effect on pitted or badly discolored teeth, or on restorations such as crowns, bridges, bonding, and tooth colored fillings. Professional whitening performed in New You Dental Centers are the most effective and safest method of tooth whitening. Our teeth whitening procedures can last as long as five years.
Zoom! whitening at New You Dental Center
Feel great about your smile! Zoom whitening is a hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening gel that is applied to your teeth by a dentist. It works together with a Zoom UV light to penetrate your teeth and break up the stains. The procedure takes about 45 minutes at the office. After the procedure, we will make recommendations on what foods to avoid to help maintain your brilliant new smile.
