Affordable Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a porcelain tooth shaped prosthetic that maintains the space where a tooth is missing or has been removed. One or more missing teeth can cause your jaw to shrink, your teeth to move out of place, TMJ, and speech impediments as well as put you at risk for periodontal disease and tooth decay. Unlike implant-supported bridges, a traditional dental bridge requires grinding of the two adjacent teeth in order to create support for the false tooth. The bridge is comprised of two crowns that fit over the adjacent teeth and one or more false teeth in between. Bridges require annual fitting and adjustments as the jaw changes over time. Unlike implant-supported dentures, there is nothing physically maintaining the space where the tooth came out.
Dental bridges can:
- Restore your smile
- Allow you to properly chew and speak
- Maintain the shape of your face
- Keep your bite with even pressure
- Help prevent natural teeth from shifting out of place
The actual bridge is made in a local Michigan dental lab. During your first dental bridge visit, Your New You Dental Center dentist will prepare the adjacent teeth, take impressions, and measure the color of your adjacent teeth. You will receive a temporary bridge to protect the exposed teeth and gums until your actual bridge is made. Multiple visits may be necessary to check the fit and make adjustments to the bite. If you are receiving a fixed bridge, your dentist may temporarily cement it in place to make sure it is fitted properly before permanently setting it.
If you are in need of a better fitting bridge, dentures or alternatives to replacing missing teeth, call New You Dental Center. A new smile starts with us.
